Who we are

The Dene Ā́ʼ Nezen movement is organised by a collective of concerned registered members of Liard First Nation.

The goal of Dene Ā́ʼ Nezen is to bring accountability to the leadership of Liard First Nation.

It’s about reclaiming past traditions to heal while building a better future.

We support the letter from council on the subject of Loss of Confidence in the currently elected Chief and the suspension of said chief.

Going forward, the outcomes we will work towards include:

  • Development and implementation of a Constitution

  • A Code of Conduct for leadership

  • A return to unity, all future Council Meetings are to include the Council of a Whole.

  • Meeting minutes to be taken and made available to membership.

  • Regular quarterly community meetings to update and consult with membership on projects, decisions and finances.

  • Board of Directors for First Kaska reinstated.

  • Elders Council is to be open to all members older than 65 years of age.

  • Youth Council is to be open to all young members, age range to be determined when policy is made.

  • Both Elder and Youth Council can appoint a member to sit in Council of the Whole meetings.
